Getting reviews to stick –Do's and Don'ts

  • Don't use a tablet in the lobby of your business to collect reviews. Google and yelp both monitor IP addresses. There is a good chance that all your reviews will be filtered or deleted.
  • Don't email a large group of customers the review me page link at the same time. Google and Yelp both have filters in place that will flag a large or irregular amount of reviews in a short period of time. Do it over time and spread it out.
  • Do set up systems to hand out the "review me cards".
  • Do place the widget on the home page of your business website.
  • Do give me feedback on how the site works and any suggestions to get better reviews.
  • Another thing worth mentioning - you cannot leave a Google review on a mobile device unless you are logged in to the Google maps app. Most Google related mobile devices come with this app pre-installed. But even if the app is installed reviewbalance will not link to it. That is why on ios(Apple) and mobile devices the Google review icon will not appear. It will appear on desktop devices.
